How much do you know about the movie?
We all love movies. We go to the cinema to watch them, we buy or rent DVDs to watch them at home, and some of us even download them illegally from the internet. But how much do we really know about them?
Movies are a relatively recent invention, with the first “moving picture” being shown in 1878. Since then, they have become a global phenomenon, with billions of people watching them every year.
There are all sorts of different movies, from big budget Hollywood blockbusters to low budget independent films. There are action movies, comedies, dramas, romance movies, horror movies, and more.
Most movies are fiction, meaning they are not based on real people or events. However, there are also documentaries, which are movies that are based on real life.
Movies are typically made by a team of people. The people who make movies are called filmmakers or directors. A director is in charge of everything that happens in a movie. They decide what the story will be about, who will act in it, and how it will all look.
Filmmakers usually work with a group of people called a crew. The crew helps to make the director’s vision come to life. They build sets, operate cameras, and do all sorts of other things to make the movie happen.
Making a movie is a very complicated process. It can take months or even years to make one movie. First, the filmmakers have to come up with an idea for a movie. Then they have to write a script, which is the dialogue and action for the movie. Once the script is finished, they have to find a place to film the movie and raise money to pay for it all.
After all of that is taken care of, they can finally start filming. But even then, it’s not always smooth sailing. Things can go wrong on set, actors can get sick or injured, and weather can ruin days of shooting.
Once filming is finally completed, the real work begins. The footage has to be edited together into a cohesive story. This can take months or even years to do right. And that’s just for the final cut of the movie! There’s also all the marketing and promotion that has to be done leading up to the release date.
All in all, making a movie is a huge undertaking! But it can also be incredibly rewarding. When everything comes together and you see your finished product on the big screen, it’s all worth it.
What other movies are you looking forward to in 2019?
The new year is upon us, and that means a whole slate of new movies to get excited about. Here are just a few of the most anticipated films coming out in 2019.
Captain Marvel
We’ve been waiting for a female-led superhero movie for what feels like forever, and finally, it’s almost here. Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers, an ex-U.S. Air Force pilot who turns into one of the universe’s mightiest heroes after an accident imbues her with superpowers. Captain Marvel is due out in March, and we can’t wait to see Larson kick some serious ass on the big screen.
Avengers: Endgame
The culmination of over 10 years and 20 movies worth of story, Avengers: Endgame is sure to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. The Russo brothers are back in the director’s chair for this one, which finds our heroes dealing with the aftermath of Thanos’ snap that wiped out half of the universe’s population. With so many questions left unanswered, we can’t wait to see how this story comes to an end.
Toy Story 4
It’s been nine years since Toy Story 3 came out, but finally, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang are back for another adventure. This time around, Woody must deal with his feelings for new toy Forky, who doesn’t seem to understand his role as a toy. Pixar has a knack for creating emotionally resonant stories, so we have high hopes for this one.
The Lion King
Disney is giving another one of its animated classics the live-action treatment with The Lion King. Donald Glover stars as Simba, James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa, and Beyoncé provides the voice of Nala. With such a star-studded cast and a visually stunning trailer, this remake is shaping up to be one of the studio’s best yet.
Star Wars: Episode IX
J.J. Abrams returns to finish what he started with Star Wars: Episode IX. Not much is known about the plot at this point, but we do know that Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac will all be back, and Carrie Fisher will appear posthumously via unused footage from The Force Awakens. With Abrams at the helm and such a talented cast, we’re confident that this will be a fitting end to the Skywalker saga.
