Ingredients:
· 1 and half cup of lentils
· 3 ounces of olive oil
· Half an onion
· 4 cups of water
· Seasoning
· Salt to taste

Step 1: The first step is to wash the lentils in cold water and make sure there are no stones, sand or any other sort of objects. Many people make the mistake of not washing them and skip this step unintentionally. One should wash them carefully under running tap water and make sure they are fully clean. If you do not want to wash it before cooking, you can open the packet as soon as you got it and in its dry condition, you can look for stones and other debris. If you do not wash them, there will be chances of you biting on pebbles while you eat.
Step 2: Get a pan and pour the olive oil. The flame should be set to medium and cut the onions into small pieces and put it in the pan. Make sure you use the spoon to cover the onion with the olive oil. Using the olive oil will make the lentils even more healthier dish as they are low in cholesterol. If you are using olive oil, the flame should not be set to high.
Step 3: Add all the washed lentils and let them soak the olive oil. Make sure nothing is getting burnt and transfer the onions and lentils into a pot to pour the water. If you are using boiling water, it will take less time. If you are adding regular tap water, it will take longer. You will know it is done when the amount of water will reduce from 4 cups to 2 and a half cups.
Step 4: You can add seasoning according to your wish or just go with this: red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and some ginger paste. You can cut off garlic into small pieces and add them for extra flavor. If you are not using red chili powder but just regular seasoning, you can slice a single green chili and add to the lentils. Add salt.
Step 5: Before you bring it out of the pot, make sure you taste it and see if the taste is alright. You may need more salt than you thought or something else could be missing. Keep it on low flame before you bring it down the stove. You can sprinkle some parsley before having it.
