· 1 and a half tablespoon baking powder
· 1 teaspoon salt
· Half teaspoon of baking soda
· 2 sticks of butter (unsalted)
· 10 ounces of buttermilk
· 1 beaten egg
Here is what you need to do:
Step 1: You will need a large bowl and add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda and salt. Take butter out of the freezer a long time before getting to bake the biscuits. You need to have soft butter. Cut them into small pieces. They should not be cold or hard. Add them to the mixture in the bowl and combine well with your fingers.
Step 2: Fix your oven to preheat at 425 degrees Fahrenheit which is 232 degrees Celsius. The consistency of the dough is going to be important. You will not have it unless you add the buttermilk in the right way. To do this, utilize a fork while pouring all of the buttermilk slowly and gently. It should form a proper dough by now.
Step 3: If you have a chopping board made of wood, spread small amounts of all-purpose flour over it. Use your hands to knead the dough several times. Use a rolling pin to make it a circular dough but make sure it is thick enough to make the biscuits. It can be one and a half centimeters thick. You will need a biscuit cutter to shape them. You can get them in many shapes like fish, heart, circular or oval. For this, use a circular one.
Step 4: Be gentle and do not ruin the shape when you take them from the dough into the baking sheet. You do not have to use any sort of oil or grease, even on the baking sheet. They should have an adequate amount of space between them. Repeat the same process by using the same dough. You should try to get as many biscuits as you can.
Step 5: Break the egg and beat it. Use a whisk to perfectly beat it. Use a brush to rub over the top of all the circular doughs that you kept on the baking sheet. There is no fixed time, it can be around thirteen minutes. Keep your eye on the oven and take them out when they change color and turn slightly brown or golden. Serve them warm with butter.
